Yet there are signs of hope . . . the first Ospreys arrived in the area this week; a bunch of beautiful male Purple Finches suddenly appeared at our feeders this morning (first of year); and the first reports of warblers are appearing on bird boards.
We might make it out of this winter alive!!!!
This morning my visiting sister and I travelled up to Belgrade, Maine to try and see the Sandhill Cranes that recently arrived (Ingrid had a class). While we didn’t see our goal bird, a stunning Northern Harrier floated above the marsh for 5 minutes and I managed to get a few photos.
At various times this week, I stumbled across a Bald Eagle, a Brown Creeper, a House Finch and a Green-winged Teal.
