Woodstock is one of our favorite get away spots, and we usually make a winter and a summer weekend visit. We play tourist, eat too much, drink adult beverages, hike, buy trinkets and this year . . . spend some time birding.
We picked up 4 first of year birds including a personal favorite, the Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker. While every Saturday Morning cartoon ever broadcast mentions the Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker . . . its not a bird we see very often in Maine . . . but it’s a sure thing in Vermont.
Our current favorite Vermont inn is the Jackson House Inn and we spent most of the day simply wandering around the gardens watching birds. Ingrid and I highly recommend it.
