First Warblers and Hermit Thrush Arrive in Maine

Hermit Thrush

It still doesn’t feel much like spring in Maine . . . overcast, windy and cold . . . but the birds of spring continue to arrive.

This morning I heard the musical chime like sound of a Hermit Thrush in the yard.  I looked around for a bit and found him posing on a branch near the driveway.  His cousin the Wood Thrush will be here soon.

About the same time Ingrid paused on her morning run to film a Pileated Woodpecker pounding on a tree.

After work I headed over to nearby Captain Fitzgerald Preserve in Brunswick and picked up a Pine Warbler (first of the year) and got some great photos of a Palm.
