Popham Beach

Semipalmated Plover

Each summer our house on the coast of Maine seemingly becomes a Bed and Breakfast as friends and relatives descend upon our waterfront home to “visit us”.

It’s weird how nobody visits us in February.

Playing tour director and couple that with a prolonged case of bronchitis . . . meant I haven’t really been birding much over the last could weeks.

But this morning I managed to get out to Popham Beach for a couple house and saw the first Semipalmated Plover of the year (we’ll see many more).

t was a beautiful morning where I saw nine Whimbrels, a Piping Plover, a Savannah Sparrow and hundreds of Terns.
